Public Land Hunts
The Bitterroot National Forest is roughly 1.5 million acres encompassing both the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountain Ranges.
This area is commonly known as the Bitterroot Valley. This can be a very rewarding but physically demanding public land hunt.
We utilize 4x4's trucks to reach trailheads or focus areas & start hiking before daylight, in order to be in position overlooking areas known to hold elk, and post up watching for elk movement.
Guides will typically pack a lunch and will spend the day on the mountain but things can vary each day depending on weather, animal movements, and the hunting conditions.
This is NOT a Trophy Bull Hunt, most of our hunters are presented with shots at average sized 3 to smaller 6 points that from 200 - 250”, with a possibility of a larger bull.
All veteran public land elk hunters know that any legal bull on public is quite the accomplishment.
